Drive module

A drive module is the electric drive unit that actively drives one of the rotational axes of the robot. This module electronically controls the motor speed, torque and position of the axis, enabling the robot arm to move precisely within its working range.

The drive module contains a servo motor, a brake and sensors, enabling a smooth and controlled rotational motion at a defined speed and with a torque reserve, which allows the robot to perform precise and repeatable movements.

The drive module has markings to indicate the zero position. These markings are used to verify the zero position.

Power supply and robot communication between the modules are transmitted through interface contacts.

The modules upstream and downstream of the drive module are mechanically connected using connecting clamps at the module couplers.

A power LED and a status indicator are located on the back of a drive module.

The power LED lights up green when the power supply to the drive is turned on.

The status indicator lights up and changes color when the EtherCAT connection is established. Further information about the status indicator is described in Status indicator for the drive modules.
