Maintenance and inspection during operation

The following principles apply to system maintenance and testing:

  • This work may only be performed by trained and authorized professionals.

  • ► Turn off the system before starting work and secure it to prevent it from turning back on.

  • ► Allow hot components to cool before starting work.

  • ► Wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

  • ► Secure the work area with a red-and-white barrier to prevent unauthorized access.

  • ► Some parts of the system can be very heavy. Use appropriate lifting devices and slings for lifting.

  • ► Do not perform work directly beneath system components under gravitational load (vertical axis), as these could fall downward due to component failure. Secure the vertical shafts to prevent them from falling before beginning work.

  • ► Follow the ESD guidelines when disassembling parts of the robot or the control unit.

  • ► Before putting the equipment back into service, install all safety devices as specified by the manufacturer.

  • ► Check that the safety devices are functioning properly.

  • ► Once the work is complete, remove all tools and objects from the range of movement of the system.

WARNING

Electric shock from high voltage while working on the system electrical components

An electric shock can cause serious injury or death.

► All work on the electrical system must be performed exclusively by licensed electricians.

► Disconnect the entire robot system from the power supply before performing any work on the electrical system.

► Secure the robot system to prevent it from restarting.

► Check that there is no voltage present.

► Cover or cordon off adjacent live parts.

WARNING

Danger due to the robot system starting up

If the robot system starts up unexpectedly, serious injury or death can result.

► Put the system into a safe state.

► Depending on the situation, turn off the system and secure it to prevent it from turning back on.

WARNING

Danger due to missing safety devices

Missing protective covers can result in serious injuries.

► Reinstall any protective covers that may have been removed during installation before putting the system into operation.

► Check all safety devices before starting the system.

CAUTION

Danger from hot surfaces

Some components of the system may become hot. There is a risk of burns to the hands.

► Do not touch hot surfaces.

► Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (protective gloves).

Performing regular maintenance

Regular maintenance is part of the intended use of the robot system and an absolute prerequisite for safe and efficient operation.
