Connecting peripheral devices

Peripheral devices designed to expand the functionality of the robot system can be connected through the peripheral Ethernet or USB ports.

WARNING

Hazards associated with failing to turn off the robot system completely

Depending on national regulations, the entire robot system must be designed so that all system components can be shut down using an external main switch. No system component may be supplied with electrical voltage greater than the safety extra-low voltage after the power has been turned off.

► It must be possible to safely shut down the entire robot system using a main switch.

► The inputs and outputs of the robot may not be powered by other devices when the entire robot system is turned off.

Preventing IP address conflicts

The system has two separate RJ45 interfaces: the control port (for connecting to a PC or tablet; can be switched to DHCP via the UI) and the peripheral port (for devices such as OPC UA or PROFINET). The networks in question are separate so that even an identical IP address should not cause a conflict.

Connecting a peripheral device via Ethernet

  • ► Plug the RJ45 connector of the Ethernet cable into the socket until it clicks into place.

The peripheral device is accessed and controlled in a web browser using the configured IP address. NOTICE! This port also serves as an interface for OPCA and Profinet.

Connecting a peripheral device via USB

  • ► Plug the USB cable all the way into one of the two USB ports.
