Getting started

This walkthrough configures a single Safety Function and activates it from a Safe Input.

Before you start

  • The Robot's update channel is set to Beta — RobSafety is a beta feature.
  • You know which Safe Inputs on top of the Control Unit reflect the state you want to react to.

Configure your first Safety Function

  1. Open RobSafety.
  2. Under Activation Rules, create a rule and configure the Safe Inputs that describe the state you want to detect. See Configuration for how each input is matched.
  3. Under Safety Functions, create the behavior you want — for example a Cartesian speed limit or a Safe Space.
  4. Under Mappings, link the Safety Function to the Activation Rule.
  5. When the physical state of the Safe Inputs on the Control Unit matches the rule, the mapped Safety Function becomes active.
note

An Activation Rule only becomes active when the Safe Inputs match its configuration exactly — see Activation Rules.
